![]() ![]() This will drain any power left in the brain and should result in a full throttle body recalibration once everything is reconnected. To do this disconnect the +/- battery leads and touch them together (you may need to use a wrench or something to bridge the gap). Point being after hours of searching on the internet I learned that draining all the residual power from the brain (ECU) would cause it to recalibrate the throttle body. Mechanics couldn't even diagnose the issue and suggested a complete throttle body replacement even after I told them the car wasn't doing its usual pre-adjustment when the ignition was turned on. ![]() Basically it wouldn't rev past 3000 rpm without losing all power. I had issues with the throttle body on my '99 Mk3 Golf after it sat for 6 mo without being started which obviously drained the battery.
